First, if you have a bad credit score you are not alone. Bad Credit is an epidemic, and it’s getting worse. And most people don’t do anything about it.
Here are some easy ways you can start to repair and rebuild your credit. Some credit fixes can be done in as little as 30 days, while most take time. But the time to start is now.
If you have never gotten a copy of your credit report that is the first step… You need to know what your credit score is, and what creditors are on your report and if there is any negative information on your report.
For less then $10 and often for free… you can get your credit report from one of the three major credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion.
If you’ve recently been denied credit you can get a free report from the same credit bureau the lender that rejected you used, just make sure you request it within 30 days.
When you get a copy of the credit report look it over thoroughly.. Mark it up and note which debts you know are valid, and which ones you feel are questionable.
The fastest way to increase your credit score is to to write the Credit agencies. You’ll find many Credit Agency Dispute Letters templates on the Internet. Fill them out for all your disputed debts and mail them right away.
When I did this, within 60 days over half of the negative information on my Credit Report vanished.. and my Credit Score skyrocketed.
The next step in the Credit Card Repair process is to stop using all your cards… Keep one for emergencies, and cut up the rest. Start using a Debit Card immediately.
Also work with your creditors, call them, work with them. Ask them to reduce your rates..
The sure way to fix your credit is to wait… As after 7 years or so negative information will be removed from your report.. But while you wait, you’re going to pay big money in Interest charges because of a bad credit score.
